In this issue

Perumal Murugan's come back statement published in its entirety in Tamil is the highlight of this issue. We have also included the Tamil version of his conversations with Nilanchana Roy and new poems of Perumal Murugan. This issue of Kalachuvadu focuses on the Dalit unrest across India. Stalin Rajangam writes on the Una movement in Gujarat. J. Balasubramaniam's perspective on the Dalit's claiming the right to participation in the temple festivals. This issue of Kalachuvadu has the unique honour of publishing previously uncollected writings of two icons of Tamil literature, Bharathi and Aathmanam, collected by Kalyanaraman and Ya. Manikandan. S.P. Udayakumar takes on the politics of sedition cases and Kalanthai Peer Mohammed critiques the Wahabi politics of Zakir Naik. Vilasini critiques the trending movie Joker and Samas summarizes the impact of 200 issues of Kalachuvadu. Obit's of Ganankoothan, Mahasweta Devi, Abbas Kiarostam and Dravidian/left activist A.G. Kasthurirangan add a tinge of sadness and nostalgia. A short story by yuvan, book excerpts from Ragupathy's new collection of writings of Anandam Pandithar, an illustrious Doctor that organised the Barber/Maruththuvar community, add cultural and political value to this number.
