While inter-state border disputes are not new in the region, what makes this incident unique is the clash between the police forces of the two states and the alleged use of light machine guns by the Mizoram Police to open fire on Assam Police personnel.

ममता बनर्जी और उनके भतीजे अभिषेक बनर्जी की तस्वीर के साथ एक ट्वीट 25 जुलाई को कांग्रेस के आधिकारिक ट्विटर हैंडल से किया गया. इसमें केंद्रीय गृह मंत्री अमित शाह की चर्चित टिप्पणी 'आप क्रोनोलॉजी समझिए' को टेक की तरह दोहराते हुए एक छोटी-सी कैफियत थी. जाहिर तौर पर शाह ने विपक्ष पर संसद ठप करने की साजिश का आरोप लगाया था. लेकिन इस ट्वीट में उन्हीं की टिप्पणी का इस्तेमाल करते हुए आरोप लगाया गया कि तृणमूल कांग्रेस के राष्ट्रीय महासचिव 2021 के बंगाल चुनाव के दौरान पेगासस स्पाइवेयर का शिकार हुए. ट्वीट के लिए चुना गया वक्त भी कोई इत्तफाक नहीं था. साल 2024 में भाजपा से निपटने के लिए संभावित रणनीति पर विपक्ष के नेताओं के साथ बातचीत करने के लिए ममता अगले दिन राष्ट्रीय राजधानी के पांच दिनों के दौरे पर आ रही थीं.
