The heat is on! While the scorching summer heat is beating down hard, Honda has turned up the heat on the already busy compact car segment with the new Amaze. So, we put it in a battle not just against its arch-rival (the Maruti Suzuki Dzire), but also against similarly priced cars in its segment to see where it stands. The result of this test was a very interesting one as we examined how these cars cater to varying needs of customers. But we did pull out a definitive winner to the crown as a segment leader. On the flip side of things, we travelled to scorching Dubai to get our hands on the latest entry-level Ferrari, the Portofino.

We also got our hands some of the most popular naked middleweight motorcycles in a fun shootout to find out just how suited these sizzling machines are for our riding conditions. To balance it out, we headed to the cooler climes of Sikkim where we celebrated the 70th anniversary of the Land Rover marque by driving no less than the legendary Series II model in its natural habitat in India, the historic route from Sandakphu to Maneybhanjang.

Fast forwarding to the future, Volvo is on course to revamp its entry-level S60 model while also planning a compact 40 Series sedan which may even have a hot Polestar version. Meanwhile, the sleek V40 as we know it is going to give way to a high riding with hints of a station wagon. There is a lot of information packed into this story about Volvo’s small car range that will come into tune with its bigger siblings that have gone on to become considerably more modern and plush in recent times. So, grab a copy of our new June issue out on stands now!

New Beginnings

Volvo’s entry-level S60 is on course to receive a huge makeover – a new platform, cutting-edge technology and efficient powertrains. But that’s not all for the Swedish brand, for it’s also planning to launch a compact 40 Series sedan, which may even carry a Polestar badge.

This month, I had the opportunity to test the Jeep Compass a bit more thoroughly than usual. Since I was visiting my friends who also happen to be off-road enthusiasts, this gave me the opportunity to take the Jeep off-road and test its mettle.

Lamborghini is a brand that’s typically associated with ostentatious pop stars, rather than the pious type. But, back in 2017, the chaps at Sant’Agata decided to do something different – by creating a one-off Huracan for Pope Francis.
