Jokes apart still reading? Please continue — Thirteen months ago, the inaugural issue of CANdYMAg was launched. With more than a year under our belt, I want to first tell you, “thank you!” We could not do this — truly we could not publish this magazine or CANdYMAg — without the loyal interest of readers! A great many of you have read every issue; we are grateful we have attracted your interest. We appreciate our new readers who are just discovering CANdYMAg; we hope to inform, instruct, amuse, and entertain you for years to come.

Welcome to the March-April 2021 issue of CANdYMAG!

There’s something about spring that encourages everyone to look forward, but this season has us looking back. It seems strange to observe that only year ago, the world experienced a worldwide pandemic. In our lives that are so busy and fast-paced, it’s easy to just keep sprinting forward. Our past makes us who we are. It’s woven into our DNA. It’s visible in our smiles and in our tears.

It is an absolute pleasure to welcome you to CANdYMAG Vol 18. When we sat down to discuss this special February 2021 issue, an emotional debate flared up around a subject that has dominated the conversation this season: Is love as we feel it: messy, sticky, weird, and something we can't claim to fully understand.

A day before completing this issue I sat down to put the finishing touches on these pages. After sixteen months of CANdYMAG, this edition is the culmination of countless hours of work by incredibly talented team members and numerous freelance writers and artists from around the globe.

First of all, thank you for picking up Issue 15 of  CANdYMAG and reading this extremely public diary entry of mine! I feel as though the past month and a half has been the most transformative months of my life, maybe also one of my lowest points.

This was a particularly difficult issue for Denzil and me to put out. It may have been that it competed with all the external forces, or perhaps we’re a tad bit tired now that we’ve crossed our one-year mark. All the people behind the scenes made this issue possible, especially our fashion features contributor Lehan Devadhia, features contributor Sakshi Gupta, celebrity make-up & hair artist and esthetician Morag Steyn, fashion stylist Jaadu Sidhu, our dear friend Ekal Deep Kaur & each one at team CANdYMAG; From helping create & recreate stories to tolerating our crazy breakdowns, they make this experience not only possible but successful.
