As the corporate world grapples with a few shocking
incidents of loss of young lives due to overwork, and
debate persists on merits and demerits of 70-hour
work culture – in fact the Karnataka government was
mulling increasing work hours in IT/ ITES sector from
10 to 14 hours – it’s pertinent at this stage to look at what makes
for a productive work place; how to find an equilibrium between
organisational targets and a balanced life for employees; and the
impact 24*7 ethos.
Through the pages of BW People issue after issue, we have
been trying to find answers for ourselves and our readers. The HR
conferences that we organise provide a peek into the solutions
that the corporate world is trying to find, and the awards that we
give away celebrate successes on several fronts. And so, in 2024,
two awards events and conferences that we organised, one in
Delhi and one in Bengaluru, acknowledged the path-breaking
efforts of the HR fraternity in the above counts.
