In this issue

The passing of Howard Kendall cast a huge shadow over Goodison Park. The feeling of shock and sadness will never completely subside and all we could do was make sure, as a football club, we were there for his family.

Howard’s funeral service at the Anglican Cathedral was a fitting celebration of a wonderful life. The great and the good from the world of football were joined by family and friends with the streets of the city centre, and those around Goodison Park, lined with supporters.

Poignant images from the day are included in this month’s Everton issue, as are tributes from each of the clubs he served between his Goodison departure in 1974 and his return as manager seven years later.

Trevor Francis, Garth Crooks and Derek Fazackerley were keen to pay tributes on behalf of Birmingham City, Stoke City and Blackburn Rovers respectively.
And each man confirmed just what we already knew.

Howard Kendall was a brilliant footballer, an excellent coach and a fantastic human being.

He will be missed by everyone associated with Everton Football Club and matchdays at Goodison will never be the same again.
