Hello everyone and welcome to the July edition of Everton magazine.

By the time you read this, another pre-season campaign will be in full swing and the players could be anywhere from Singapore to Scotland, to wonderful Wiltshire or the esteemed Elland Road.

But before the Premier League campaign gets underway at home against Watford on 8 August, there's one friendly contest that stands out above all the rest.

You won't find too many photos from the Premier League era as iconic as the one that provides this month's back cover. But it shows a man who made a happy habit of triggering such moments of unfettered emotion in L4.

A testimonial for Duncan Ferguson is something every Evertonian will want to celebrate and his former team-mate Nigel Martyn tells us elsewhere among these pages why it's so deserved.
We also hear from another former Blue who lined up alongside the big man, Gary Naysmith, on his role as player-manager at East Fife, preview the 2015/16 fixtures with Ian Snodin, look at what the players have been up to over the summer break and learn from legendary boss Howard Kendall about the ones that got away.

There's also a catch-up with Roberto Martinez, a special feature on the 1969/70 champions, unique shots of the Goodison Road stand development 35 years ago plus news from the Under-21s' training camp in Austria.

And that's just a warm-up for another packed edition. Enjoy!
