Power List of Indiawallahs who can make or break the India story

In the United Kingdom, given its multi-cultural social fabric India is never out of the sight and with the ongoing globalisation – in trade, capital, information and technology – India is never out of the mind. With the largest electorate in the world having now voted in the government in New Delhi, the idea of India is also being renegotiated by these new nabobs of national politics. Outside India, it will be the discussions and deliberations in London’s drawing rooms that will shape the contours of the Indian mindscape.

Our High and Mighty List then, is an eclectic collection of people who will then influence such discussions on India. These are the men and women who have the power to bring about change, influence opinion and challenge stereotypes and include an eclectic mix of academics, writers, scientists, artists, dancers, auctioneers, curators, chefs, fashion designers, doctors, activists, lawyers, journalists. Two Indian families – Hindujas and Mittals – are among the top five in the Sunday Times’ Rich List, but money alone will not ensure a place in our demanding list of Indiawallahs in the UK. Our list is beyond listing those who can hire, fire and spend. The businessmen, usual suspects in the UK media lists, had to prove their mettle beyond their wallets to find a place among increasing number of people who influence India from the riverside capital.

This list is a first in the UK mediascape, which lists people, from all nationalities, who shape opinion on India and Indians, and can potentially influence and challenge its evolving policies and aesthetics. Their inclusion in the list gives us courage and worries, hope and defiance.

We are delighted to introduce you to our magazine, the India Gazette London, and its digital sibling www.indiagazettelondon.com. The river-side capital is an ideal place to perch and write about India and Indians across the globe. From London, we take a long view of the changes taking place in India and in lives of Indians, placing them against the backdrop of global shifts in power and politics, art and aesthetics.
Almost a decade ago, the prospect of India becoming a developed country seemed a distant possibility. But during the last few years there has been a sea change in world’s perception about India’s future. The India Gazette London keeps pace with India’s new journey. The magazine will think out of the box and share those stories, ideas, views, hypotheses and arguments, ranging from the sublime to the controversial.
There has never been a serious publication based in London looking closely at India and Indians abroad. As we venture to make that happen, we have lined up one of the finest experts, writers and artists.
We have invested on sleek design, stunning photographs and sharp typography. We have set up an elaborate delivery system and our delivery van stops at all the right places. Yes, our new magazine has an attitude, slightly iconoclastic, definitely cutting edge.
