Welcome to the March 2017 issue of The
GameOn Magazine! Nintendo’s Switch might
be out in days rather than weeks, but this
issue we don’t care about things that are coming out,
we care about the tons of content we’ve already got to
show you!
Well, we care a little bit about Nintendo, which is why
our batch of articles include Gary telling us things about
Nintendo that we might not already know. I know them,
but that’s because I already read it. We also have a
class guide for Space Hulk: Deathwing from Marcello,
Adam telling us about his archery obsession and Ethan
wondering where a new Mercenaries game is.
There’s a few more, which you should have a read of
before you reach our featured interview about the
upcoming game Tormentor X Punisher. The lead
developer Joonas was more than happy to field any
question Dom threw his way.
Our previews contain a bunch of gamescom stuff (yes,
still!), mainly about both Warhammer 40,000 games
Inquisitor Martyr and Dawn of War III from Alex, and a
couple of zombie games from Gary. Calum also put in a
couple, along with some more recent stuff from Borja,
Owen and Marcello.
The reviews we conducted this month really were a
mixed bag, with indie games Luke Sidewalker and
imprint-X from Adam, Bethesda Pinball from Reece
and The_Apothecary built an Urban Empire. Alex found
some time to go on the run with PAKO Car Chase
Simulator, Calum tried not to Redie and Borja created
some Tyranny. We have 27 reviews in total, so give them
all a try, and see what we thought.

Something I’ve always enjoyed about the indie scene is how simple ideas and mechanics are expanded upon to create great games. If you look you begin to see it everywhere: Papers Please, The Stanley Parable, Towerfall: Ascension, Nidhogg all have one core mechanic and iterate on them, creating some of the strongest games in their respective genres. So it is with imprint-X, a puzzle game based entirely around clicking buttons - and it’s so good.
