We've done a few special issues in the past in 4x4. Most notably, a couple of times in the last few years we've dedicated the entire magazine to pick-up trucks without anybody complaining.
So hopefully our Land Rover special issue won't be met by howls of protest. We've taken the entry-level version of the current Defender 90 over some of Britain's best green lanes. We've unearthed a superb bobtailed P38 Range Rover and an ex-MOD 90 built for serious off-roading in a style we'd describe as intelligent hardcore. We've taken a look back at a pioneering coast-to-coast expedition across the USA, following unmade roads almost all the way, and we've lifted the lid on a couple of classic old leafers rebuilt to remain relevant today.
And talking of what's relevant today, we've also taken a look at two companies specialising in transforming the Defender's cabin from utilitarian to luxurious. Love it or hate it, that's a big, big part of the Land Rover scene now.
It's not ALL Landies in this issue, though. We've got a report from the climactic event in the Odyssey Challenge, hot product news to tempt owners of every kind of 4x4 and the story of a publicity stunt which turned into a thought-provoking critique of how many people use their SUVs.
Oh, and would you believe a side-by-side ATV made by Lexus? It's true… and it's all in the new issue of 4x4!
