As Gothenburg turns 400 in 2021, the November issue of Swedish Press looks into the history that shapes Gothenburg into a bustling cultural and commercial centre. 

In the December/January issue of Swedish Press, we showcase Sweden’s New Paradigm: Making Fuel from Renewable Electricity, an innovative approach to reducing the emission of greenhouse gases that are destroying our climate.

In the October issue of Swedish Press we present Winnipeg, the capital of Manitoba, and look into its Swedish-Canadian community and discover why Winnipeg is named the “Swedish Capital of Canada”. 

The main theme of the September issue of Swedish Press is Allemansrätten (the legal right for the general public to roam on private property in Sweden).

The July/August 2020 edition recalls that, having conquered Northern Europe, Old Sweden turned westward and founded New Sweden on American soil.

The theme for the June 2020 edition is Sweden: Land of the Midnight Sun. Swedish Press takes our readers to the Arctic Circle in Swedish Lapland and look into the boundary of eternal darkness in mid-winter and 24 hours of sunshine in mid-summer.

In the May issue, Swedish Press has chosen the Swedish Diaspora as the main theme. With the help of Svenskar i världen (SVIV) we were able to contact movers and shakers in various Swedish communities who have kindly contributed insights into expat life in faraway lands.

In the April edition, Swedish Press presents Gotland, an island of hidden treasures, and its major city Visby which since 1995, has been on the UNESCO World Heritage site list.

In this March edition we look into how hilarious Swedish humour is and the industry behind it.

In the first issue in 2020 Swedish Press focuses on the tens of thousands of people who are currently learning Swedish, and explore their reasons for doing so.


The main feature in the December issue of Swedish Press offers an overview of the gaming industry in Sweden.

In past issues of Swedish Press we have aimed the spotlight on various North American cities with a significant Swedish-American-Canadian business, cultural and social presence. In the November issue, it is San Francisco’s turn.

The main theme for the October edition is Driving Change Through Innovation – inventions and innovations that have shaped daily life not only in Sweden, but also worldwide.

The main theme for the September edition is Swedish Pioneers and Entrepreneurs – brave souls intent on changing their lives for the better.

We celebrate the 90th Anniversary of Swedish Press in this Jul/Aug 2019 edition. This special 90th Commemorative issue includes around a dozen messages from subscribers, organizations and companies that recall what Swedish Press has meant to them and their activities over the years. It also features an article of one of Swedish Press’ former cartoonist, Mr Ernie Poignant, who just turned 100 this past February.

The theme for the June edition is Swedish Artists in North America. According to our research, the immigrating Swedes, apart from many who are farmers, loggers or fishermen, include close to a hundred established visual artists, a few of whom are portrayed in the Feature article.

Vikings in Vinland is the main theme of the May issue of Swedish Press. In our Feature Story, Swedish-born Dr Birgitta Wallace, a senior archaeologist emerita with Parks Canada, pinpoints the locations along the Atlantic seaboard of present-day Canada using descriptions from Viking voyages as well as archaeological work she carried out in Newfoundland.

In the April issue Swedish Press have chosen to feature the city of Halmstad in the southwestern province of Halland. Besides featuring Halmstad then and now, Swedish Press also conducts an exclusive interview with Sven Nordqvist, author and illustrator of the popular series of children’s books, Pettson and Findus.

The main theme for the March issue is Sweden’s Enchanted Castles. It also features an article about Riddarhuset (House of Knights) whose main activities include genealogical research, cataloguing of the Swedish aristocracy, and giving out scholarships.

The Feature in the February edition reports on the 2018 Nobel Prize Teacher Summit held at Stockholm’s Nobel Museum by the Nobel Prize Education Network, a global get-together for teachers and school leaders. This annual initiative builds on the ability of the Nobel Prize to inspire people to seek out knowledge, to ask questions and to attempt to understand and improve the world.

The mythology of Tomte Nisse and how he came to be a fixture during Swedish holiday celebrations has its origins in ancient ancestral beliefs. We explore the myth's evolution over time in this month's Feature.

Swedish Press turns the spotlight on the region of South Florida. There are more than 150,000 Swedish-Americans and thousands more of Swedish citizens living in South Florida. In this November issue we investigate the raisons d’être of Swedes in South Florida. 

Slow Fashion in Sweden is the subject of this month’s Feature article. We portray Sandra Backlund, a Swedish fashion designer known for her avant-garde knitting and for creating garments made from human hair. 

The trend to replace combustion engines with electric motors is accelerating, and the benefits for the climate are substantial. In this September issue, Swedish Press looks into how Sweden Drives Forward with Sustainable Transportation.

Swedish Press looks into wine-growing Swedes not only in Sweden, but also in North America. We have managed to track down some of them including Bergström Wines, Vingården i Klagshamn and Blaxsta Vineyard. The design section features The Winery Hotel, the first of its kind in Sweden.

In the June issue of Swedish Press we capture some of the hubbub of New York City as experienced by Swedes from various backgrounds and walks of life. 

In this May edition we reach for the sky and beyond to report on Sweden’s contribution to international space exploration. This is one of Sweden’s most ambitious, enduring and cosmopolitan endeavours.

In this April edition we focus on the subject of Swedes Pushing Boundaries to reflect the achievements of Swedes in areas of sports, arts and technology.

In this March edition Swedish Press focus on the subject of Cross-Cultural Awareness in recognition of the cosmopolitan backgrounds and lifestyles of its readers.

The main theme for the February edition is Education and Learning in both Sweden and North America. Swedish Press speaks with Peter Åke "Poker" Wallenberg, the Chairman of the Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation, to find out how the Foundation achieves its goal through long-term grants to excellent researchers and to projects.
