Welcome to the 8th Edition of A&ITH; Magazine. This Edition signifies the end of the year and what a year it has been. Last week I kicked back and looked over our last four Editions of Trophy Hunter which have featured some amazing and very memorable hunts from our readers. We are lucky to have readers who send in their stories and share their experiences and tales of trophy hunting from around the world. Many hunters have booked their hunts for next year or are currently away hunting. The US and Canada has fired this year and I have seen some amazing pictures of trophy animals which have been harvested by some lucky hunters. For me, next year has some hunts planned and booked. Buffalo, tanteng in the Territory, chamois in Austria and Mule deer and pronghorn in the U.S are on my bucket list, so to speak.

Welcome to the 22nd Edition of Trophy Hunter…. It’s Finally Here.
Firstly, we would like to apologise for this edition being late to press and to the newsstands.  There have been a number of factors that have affected this magazine getting out on time.  The first and probably biggest factor is that I have taken a new job in the big smoke.  
As a self-publisher the buck stops with us… pardon the pun!  
Both Halena and myself have had to undertake some big changes, running two separate households and a young family with three kids, the pressure has really been turned up.  As most of our readership would know we also produce the Australian Deer Hunter magazine so I guess it really is a bit of a snowball effect when things become as full on as they are at the moment. 
There will be some major changes with Trophy Hunter.  Instead of being a quarterly magazine that is published every three months, we will move to an annual once a year publication.  We would rather change the frequency of Trophy Hunter magazine than see it stop.  We have put a lot of years into it and the publication has grown to now host a very large readership.  Our technical writing staff now circle the globe as does our readership.  Trophy Hunter has come a long way and is now available on all digital mediums through Magzter.
I still remember how I hatched the Trophy Hunter magazine.  It was October 2010 and I was sitting at a restaurant with my wife, Halena, in Chapel St in South Yarra.  It was our wedding anniversary and me being me, had to talk shop at the table.  I declared that I wanted to have a crack at another magazine and after a bit of pitching and talking, I got the go ahead and we brought out the first edition in March of 2011.

Welcome to the 21st Edition of Trophy Hunter.
The first part of the year is always a busy time of year in the World of hunting with all the Trade Shows.  With the SCI Convention, Shot Show and many more shows around the world being done and dusted this week, IWA, the leading trade fare for hunting, shooting sports features its own event that have been running for the last 43 years.   The IWA show in Nuremberg is the place where a lot of European manufacturers launch new products.  Swarovski yesterday announced their new Z8i rifle scope series and Tikka have just announced the new rifle to replace the successful Tikka T3, the Tikka T3X.  In other breaking news, Sauer & Sohn presented the new Sauer 100 after it was announced at the Shot Show earlier this year.
Looking at this Editions layout for Trophy Hunter, all I can say is “Wow, it’s a beauty.”  It really does have it all going on.  We welcome some new faces to the magazines writing staff and we are also happy to see the contributions of Zach Bowhay, Michael Gibson, Jake Morgan, Mike Welch, Selena and Simon Barr and Matt Palmquist who consistently deliver the goods to our readers.  Gibson brings us Chamois in New Zealand.  Mike Welch brings Wapiti ballot hunting in the remote Wilderness of New Zealand.  
We have Asiatic buffalo, Cape bufflao, cougar hunt, boar hunting in Poland plus a couple of thumping Mule deer bucks and Bill Molls brings an Alaskan adventure to the table.
Harvey shares his NZ Tahr hunt story and Nando Sciacca brings us Hogzilla.  Finally, Jarred Matthews shares his experiences with the Stone Glacier SKY 5100 backpack.

Welcome to the 19th Edition of Trophy Hunter. We hope that you all enjoy the informative articles, stories and reviews that feature in this Edition.  

We have been inundated with tales from over the ditch. It seems these days that many more hunters are getting on the plane and seeing what New Zealand has to offer. I have only just retuned myself after a great trip away with two mates in the West Coast chasing Tahr. With temperatures dropping down to minus 20 at night, we had an amazing adventure that will feature in the next Edition of Trophy Hunter. After our trip back down the mountain we were keen for a big brekky and in desperate need of some real coffee. While there for our morning feast we were recognised by a few hunters. We swapped tables and spent the next hour sharing tales and experiences on the hill. It was great to do so and after a great chat we bid them goodbye as they set off to chase more game species as were we.  To me it’s great to see and talk with like minded people that love doing the same thing, hunters extending their home range and challenging themselves in the pursuit of other game species abroad. It’s not hard to think back to when NZ seemed so out of reach for so many. Whether you are going self-guided or going with a guide, New Zealand is worth a look and has a lot to offer for all.

Wel come to the 18th Edition of Trophy Hunter. Well it’s June and it’s shaping up to be a massive year. I am getting some great reports back on New Zealand success of White-tail, Sika and Red deer. There has also been some great reports and photos of good quality chamios taken of late as well as tahr . I guess you could say that a lot of the Team at Trophy Hunter love this time of year. Most of our rut hunts have already taken place and most of the lads have had great success this season. Some have completed their Australian deer slams and others have just returned from amazing hunts abroad! This Edition showcases it all, 10 great hunting stories with a main focus on hunts that would interest you, the readers. It also enables you to see what is really available out there and gives you an insight on what to expect. We also feature a further 6 technical related articles in this instalment of Trophy Hunter.

We welcome our readers to the 17th Edition of the Australian & International Trophy Hunter magazine. As our number of Editions grow, so does our distribution. Trophy Hunter can be found right around the country at all leading newsagents. We thank all of our readers for their support and we thank all of our contributors and their tales from one end of the globe to the other. This Edition sees a number of new technical writers join the team at Trophy Hunter. We welcome Selena and Simon Barr, John Royle, Justin Moore, Philippe Jaeger, Chad Cruickshank and David DeAustin. We have handpicked these worldly writers to bring further diversity to a global publication. Once again this Edition is jam packed with content.  ach Bowhay brings a bear baiting article to the table. Tom Jones gives us an insight to Trophy Photography. Justin Moore continues on with his adventure of hunting Alaska’s most elusive big game.

Welcome to the 16th Edition of the Australian & International Trophy Hunter, it gives all the staff that are involved in the magazine great pleasure to deliver our readers the last magazine for 2014. Once again the team has worked hard to bring you a magazine that is filled with adventures from one end of the world to the other. Along with the 10 hunting stories there is a further 6 technical articles aiming at giving you an insight into other game species from around the world. I have only just returned from an amazing adventure abroad. I had the privilege of visiting the United States of America and I was able to fore fill a child dream to hunt in Idaho.

As the team at Trophy Hunter punch out this next Edition, we are doing so with a number of writers trying to control their excitement. A number of the guys have drawn great tags for their respective states. I too head to the state of Idaho with an over the counter tag to hunt Mule deer with a close mate. A number of the boys will also depart for their spring hunts in the mountains of New Zealand and we wish them all the best with their up and coming hunts. Readers will find that we have moved to a new layout for the 15th Edition of Trophy Hunter. We have opted for a NEW 5 page story and article layout. The idea behind this layout is to try and maximise the great photos that have been sent in with articles and stories. So instead of running them in at postage stamp sizes, we now can offer double page spreads with full and half page photos. We hope that moving to the new layout is pleasing to the readers and we continue the high standard of our magazine that you have all grown to enjoy.

Welcome to the 14th Edition of the Australian & International Trophy Hunter magazine. We are all thrilled to be back writing and publishing at the height of the South Pacific’s rutting period.

We have had writers chasing species left right and centre. The rut on Red and Fallow is over and now the chamois and tahr rut is here. New Zealand had experienced a mass of bad weather and I have spoken to a number of our guys who copped damaging high winds, torrential rain and storms.

I am also happy to report that when the weather broke and cleared,they also experienced some of the best hunting with a number of quality animals being taken and have also begun to filter through. So I guess you have to take the good with the bad. 

Further abroad, some hunters are finishing off bear season while others are starting to get ready for their respective seasons. This year I will be hunting in Idaho with a good buddy of mine. It is a hunt that I am honoured to be partaking in and I hope that we are able to capture some great footage, some great photos and a trophy for the wall will just top it off.

Welcome to the 13th Edition of the Australian & International Trophy Hunter Magazine. We welcome back a number of Technical writers who have been away hunting abroad. Mark Hampton shares his amazing tale of chasing Marco Polo in Kyrgyzstan. Zach Bowhay gets back to sharing his knowledge and helping hunters who wish to hunt the states with an overview of Gearing Up. Noel O’Connor gives us a great article on wolf predation. Corey Jacobson pumps out another on elk hunting and how to convert and fill your tags and Jason Stafford releases more of his own elk knowledge while James Morris begins his Article series on Alpine Hunting in NZ, a must for anyone looking at hunting over the ditch. This Edition features a number of reviews by Craig Jensen and Michael Gibson with the Hoyt Spider30 and Exped the Venus II Tent being put through their paces. There is the all Australian developed MaxBox and DoorPro shooting rest that get a few test fires. The writers and staff work as a great team at Trophy Hunter, ensuring that  each article they offer our readers is top notch and over a mass of informative information that is aimed at assisting readers now or sometime in the near future. I am sure you will all be enthralled by their contributions, as we continue to build an extensive array of writers from all over the world. We have a number of amazing stories that have been published within this Edition with a number of standouts.

Welcome to the 12th Edition of the Australian & International Trophy Hunter Magazine. All I can say is “What A Year It Has Been” for the Team at Trophy Hunter, with writers traversing one side of the globe to the other and our readers doing the same thing as there have been a lot of magnificent trophies that have been taken. We welcome on board a couple of new writers to the team at Trophy Hunter, Jens Ulrik Hoegh, Bob Stocker, Jason Stafford and Corey Jacobsen who some of you will know from the US based Extreme Elk Hunter Magazine. We welcome all four writers and I am sure you will all be enthralled by their contributions, as we continue to build an extensive array of writers from all over the world. We have a number of amazing stories that have been published within this Edition with a number of standouts….John Griffin has returned from Sweden and shared his amazing tale of hunting Moose, Johnny Burford and his story Red Velvet is a must read for all the diehard elk hunters and the list goes on to cover ele even stories in this jam packed Edition. I have only just returned to Australia after an amazing Austrian hunting adventure in pursuit of Mouflon. To say it was thrilling, traditional and emotional is only a few ways of describing a hunt and experiences I encountered whilst abroad, experiences that will last in my memory for a life time and I look forward to sharing my tale.

Welcome to the 11th Edition of the Australian & International Trophy
Hunter. This Edition is jammed packed full of all of the stories and
articles our readers have grown to love and enjoy. With each Edition
our national distribution continues to grow. Sitting back it feels like
only yesterday that we launched Trophy Hunter and now with this
11th Edition hitting the shelves and an extended overseas distribution
just around the corner, the team behind the magazine hope that
you continue on our journey of growth. We are all happy to see
the publication grow within a market where other publications are
struggling.

I have only just had confirmation of my hunt in Austria where I will
spend 9 days of hunting and tripping around the country where I will
be targeting Ovis Musimon also known as Mouflon. This species
of Mountain sheep will be a joy to hunt and I am hoping to bring
home a spiral horned monster. I will be traveling with a close friend
filming and hunting so I hope to have some good tales, footage and
pictures to share.

We have had some senior overseas writers that have embarked on
some recent hunts or are just about to depart. Patrick Montgomery
has just returned from Russia and has had great success taking two
record breaking Siberian Snow sheep. Zach Bowhay and a few of the
other US writers have been amongst Pronghorn already and are about
to set off on the early elk season and have just returned from BC, so
yes the fall is here and with tales of hunts floating around amongst the
writing staff, I am sure it won’t be long before we see some of these
stories in the magazine. We wish them all the best on their current
trips and safe journeys to them all.

We welcome our readers to the 10th Edition of the Australian &
International Trophy Hunter magazine. Well what a big few months
it’s been for the magazine team since the last Edition!
Most of our technical writers have been flat-out working on this
Edition and have also been away hunting around the globe. Last
month we had the 2013 Melbourne Shot Show in which Trophy
Hunter had a booth where we sold backorders and merchandise for
the Australian Deer Hunter magazine. I would like to thank all of
our readers who dropped in and said gday over the weekend. It was
great to receive reader’s feed back and to chat about past and up and
coming hunts some of the readers have booked.
Our US based Technical writers have worked hard to bring you
another great selection of articles that are specific to the US and we
thank Zack, Jace, T.R and Matt for their continued editorial input.
We have many other technical articles that feature in this Edition.

two years of the Trophy Hunter magazine. I must say it’s been a
pleasure for us all to bring to you, the readers, an epic array of hunts
and technical articles from around the Globe.
Within this Edition we welcome two more season writers from the
US to the magazine. Jace Bauserman and Matt Palmquist come to
Trophy Hunter with a diverse mix of technical experience. Bauserman
has been working as a full-time outdoor freelance writer for several
years and publishes regularly for quality magazines like Bowhunter,
Bowhunting World, Archery Business, Cabela’s Outfitter Journal and
Field & Stream.
Matt Palmquist is a lifelong resident of the state of Kansas in the
heart of the United States. He grew up in central Kansas and has
been an avid upland bird and waterfowl hunter from a young age.
Matt’s successes in the field have provided opportunity to contribute
to several magazines as a freelance outdoor writer. Matt has been
published in several outdoor publications including Bowhunter, Bow
and Arrow Hunting, and Eastmans’ Bowhunting Journal.
Both Jace and Matt are welcomed additions to Trophy Hunter’s ever
growing list of technical writers. Over the last two years, the magazine
has built up a formidable team of diverse hunters/technical writers
who provide our readers with a wealth of knowledge.
The 9th Edition of Trophy Hunter features some classic big game

The team at A&ITH; have pulled out all stops to try and bring you the latest on what’s going on in the wide world of trophy hunting from around the globe. Many of the writers from A&ITH; magazine are either currently away, just returned or are planing to be away on hunts. Some have hunted the humid top end of Australia on Asiatic buffalo, banteng and scrub bulls, others have hunted in Europe and some have their sights set on Africa for Cape buffalo and plains game. A few are heading to Montana in search of trophy bull elk and other North American species such as Mule deer, pronghorn and Mountain lion. This Edition features many amazing stories from our readers, some from the past and some from the present. Trophy Hunter magazine! It signifies 12 months since we first
launched the magazine and yet it feels just like yesterday.

feedback and support is very welcome and we hope that you
