The 48-215 (FX) was the first all Australian manufactured vehicle and Australians loved it, in fact, they couldn’t get one quick enough. Many models followed over the decades and no street in Australia was without a very healthy sprinkling of Holdens. Consequently, the Holden brand was tightly entwined with Australian life. Many Aussies owned or were driven around in a Holden. Just about everyone has a Holden memory. The early Holdens were rather primitive but they were tough as nails and could be repaired quite easily. They were able to take the punishment of our poor roads and bumpy tracks, day after day. With Holden sales peaking at 40 per cent of the Australian car sales market, they were literally everywhere.
