Summer is in full swing in the GCC and with temperatures easily surpassing the 40 degrees Celsius mark, we are all obliged to slip into the slow lane and go into cruise control mode until we once again reach the gentler climes of winter. However, the rise of mercury brings with it the opportunity of a change of lifestyle, a broadening of our horizons and indulging our sense of adventure.

As for me, I escape to the enchanting Omani capital of Muscat, where I call the Mandarin Oriental, Muscat home for a few days.
