There's a new boss at the charity shop

Mrs P takes CONTROL

You can call me Hannah,' said Mrs Protheroe. But that's never going to work, is it? Hannah is such a young person's name these days. Not that Mrs P is all that old. She's probably in her late 50s. It's just that I've never met anybody who looks more like somebody called Mrs Protheroe and less like somebody called Hannah.

If you've been following events on this page - and if you have, well done you! - you'll know that Mrs P is the new manager of our charity shop. She is a big noise on the committee that runs this and one other, rather larger, shop. As you'll also remember, she was originally interviewing my friend and colleague Wendy for the manager's job, but decided she'd rather like to do it herself. It goes without saying that she has no experience of running a shop. That would be too much to ask. Mrs P's main experience of life has been as a wealthy solicitor's wife and - when she can spare time from this demanding position - sitting on committees.
