Winning the Lottery was just a silly dream – wasn't it?

I remember standing in the queue to get my Lottery ticket like it was yesterday. The jackpot was £12 million - more than enough to fund my fantasy of a night at the casino in Monte Carlo.

Ah yes, I could see it now… I'd walk down the steps at 5am with my Louboutin high heels held tightly in one hand, and the other threaded through the arm of a tall man as he escorted me back to my chartered yacht.

My blood-red minidress would be in stark contrast to his black tuxedo and bow tie, which would be in disarray after a hard night at the roulette table.

We'd cut a fabulous cliché as we flirted our way through the deserted streets of Monaco, lit softly by a peach and yellow sunrise. As we neared my yacht, the sound of the Mediterranean gently splashing on the harbour walls would fill the moment with perfection. Then my handsome stranger would put down the Louis Roederer Cristal brut champagne bottle he'd carried with him. And he would pull me close to him, stare deep into my eyes and…

'All right mate? A ticket for tomorrow please.' A scruffy man in a T-shirt and jeans in front of me broke into my fantasy.
