Coronation Street's Sally Dynevor on why she has no plans to call time on her acting career

- SUE CRAWFORD

I've decided I'm not a retiring person!'

Some people dread the passing years, but for Corrie star Sally Dynevor, turning 60 has only made her more determined than ever to wring pleasure out of every second of life.

And while she has absolutely no intention of putting her feet up - 'I'm not a retiring person,' she says firmly - a good work-life balance is important to her.

'I've got such a lovely routine now,' she explains. 'On a day off, I'll go to the gym, or for a swim, in the morning, then come back and have breakfast. I might go for a walk and afterwards I'll meet a friend.

'I'm really enjoying this time of my life. In your 60s, you can just be yourself. You don't have to worry about all those things that younger people fret about.'

imageNext year, Sally, 62, will be celebrating 40 years on Corrie. It's hard to believe she was just 22 when she first appeared as straight-talking Sally Seddon.

Fast forward to today and while her character may have mellowed slightly, what hasn't changed is the actor's enthusiasm for the show. And that's why retirement is not an option.

'I want to keep working, it's good for my brain,' she says. 'So, if they still want me, maybe I'll be in the show in my 70s and 80s. I'll just keep going.
