1 Journal for joy.

imagesays Vaughn Gray, NASM-CPT, a wellness expert and personal trainer in New York City. He suggests experimenting with journaling styles to see what you like: “There's no right or wrong way—just make it enjoyable!” A bullet journal is task-oriented, a gratitude journal focuses on positive aspects of life, and a free-form one is about release and self-expression. Start with a few minutes daily, then expand on that.

2 DO A DAILY DIGITAL DETOX.

It can be all too easy to get lost in a doom-scrolling spiral on dark winter days, especially when you're cooped up at home. Don't let that happen! Your overall well-being will benefit if you take a little break each day. Being online constantly can mess with your mental health and even cause physical ailments such as headache, muscle tension, and difficulty sleeping. Set an alarm for the same time every day to remind yourself to put your phone away for 10 minutes. The freed-up time can be spent on a healthy habit such as a quick meditation or stretching session or on a self-care ritual like savoring a cup of tea or reading.

image3 MOVE AND GROOVE.

You can do this circuit anywhere, with no equipment, in about 10 minutes (repeat the moves twice):

• Jumping jacks (1 minute)

• Body-weight squats (1 minute)

• Push-ups (30 seconds)

• Plank (30 seconds)
