RFDS ACTOR RICK'OFF SPRING CHANGED MY LIFE'

The Aussie star looks back at his greatest roles and mental struggles

Rick Davies has a knack for slipping into roles that capture viewers’ hearts. From cheeky, rough-around-the-edges Jimmy Proudman on Offspring, to steadfast fire and rescue officer Ryan Jarvis in RFDS, the actor has carved out a career defined by authenticity and an eagerness to throw himself into the unknown.

It’s a journey that began with a spontaneous turn in a short student film at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, followed by a bit part as a nurse in Neighbours, then the role of charming stable owner Max in The Saddle Club.

Since then, Rick’s career has spanned iconic dramas, including the endearing Aussie movie Oddball, supernatural series Tidelands, Lucy Lawless’ cosy-crime show My Life Is Murder and recent Netflix hit Apple Cider Vinegar.

Now, as he slips seamlessly into the new third season of RFDS – which features a juicy love-triangle storyline with costars Emma Hamilton and Stephen Peacocke – the actor is reflecting on his career and how learning on the job has always been the best education for him.

“It’s so good to jump from job to job and see how different people work,” tells Rick, citing his memorable role in Offspring as particularly formative.
