He's starred in some of our most beloved TV shows - A Country Practice, Blue Heelers and SeaChange - and is also an award-winning author. Here, the 61-year-old tells Woman's Day he's grateful to still be entertaining us, in the second season of hit crime spin-off NCIS: Sydney.

You've said you don't watch the show - why is that?

I just don't watch much telly. I trust that everybody on the show knows what they're doing and it will turn out fine. The good thing about the show is that it knows it's entertainment and everybody from the producers right down to the cast and crew are working to that end.

Do you ever watch things you're in?

No, not really.

What do you like to watch instead?

Docos, old Wallabies tests, cricket and the odd film. I quite like watching old commercials, too.

Are you surprised at the success this spin-off has had?

I certainly don't take it for granted. You don't want to be too much of a ponce about things. The crew work really hard to make the show look as good as it can and being a member of the cast is just the icing on the top.
