George beat the odds after being born with a rare heart condition

As a midwife, Alinta Munro knew something was off while pregnant with her second child.

“I had my 12-week scan and I was feeling pretty on edge as I’d had a lot of bleeding in the first three months and knew it wasn’t good,” the mum-of-three tells Woman’s Day.

During that scan, the technician told Alinta, 40, that she had a large haematoma in between her placenta and the wall of her uterus. She was told her pregnancy would be high risk, causing her to panic.

As the 20-week scan rolled around, Alinta and her husband James learned their baby had a very rare congenital heart condition called Tetralogy of Fallot and a secondary lung disease. They were told that he might not survive long past birth.
