Smooth Radio presenters Jenni Falconer and Kate Garraway talk us through their friendship and what Christmas Day is like in their homes

- GEMMA CALVERT

We'd have a PINT OF LAGER AT IOAM!'

Since meeting on the set of GMTV 25 years ago, Jenni Falconer, 49, and Kate Garraway, 58, have shared everything from sunrise shifts to late-night parties, forging a bond built on laughter, loyalty - and plenty of mischief. Now they present back-to-back shows on Smooth Radio.

Sitting down with woman&home ahead of their appearance at our coveted Christmas Live event on 22 November, the much-loved presenters unwrap their funniest work memories, discuss life's biggest challenges and celebrate the joy of friendship at Christmas. In addition, they chat through their hopes for 2026. Prepare for laughter and confessions aplenty.

Do you recall the moment you first met?

Kate It was September 2000 and we'd just started at GMTV. We were on a big photo shoot on London's South Bank and I was thinking, 'My God, she's beautiful...'

Jenni Kate was a proper journalist, and I'd done travel and documentaries for ITV, but never done entertainment. I was petrified! Sometimes in this industry it's a bit of an effort with people, but it wasn't like that with Kate. She was super nice.

Did you ever think that you'd still be friends 25 years later?

K I felt like we'd still be friends. I had no sense that we'd still be in work!

J You've been at GMTV for a long time! Since we joined, it's gone through so many different names and brands.

Tell us a bit about work nights out back in the day.

J Obviously we don't drink! [Laughs]

K Come on, you love a sweet sherry on a Sunday!
