NEW SEASON SLEEP TRENDS

Agood night's sleep might not be the answer to absolutely everything but, according to experts, it comes pretty close. It not only impacts your energy levels, but it's now thought to affect your likelihood of dementia, heart disease, type 2 diabetes, obesity and even some cancers. So, there's never been a better time to ensure you're getting the right amount of shut-eye. Here's some new tricks to try at bedtime.

NASAL BREATHING

Sleep with your mouth open? Breathing through your nose is better for you, says sleep and dream teacher Charlie Morley. 'Our nose not only filters the air, but also heats or cools and humidifies it in the nasal cavity, making it easier for our lungs to absorb. Nasal breathing increases our oxygen intake, too.' Taping your mouth closed is obviously dangerous and not advised, so instead, speak to your GP about how to help you breathe through your nose at night, such as when dealing with allergies or underlying nasal congestion.
