As The Australian Ballet raises the curtain on its thrilling 60th anniversary season, The Weekly looks back at the beauty, magic, aesthetic genius and pioneer spirit that have garnered admiration around the world for our national company.
Artistic Director David Hallberg was in no doubt which production he would select to kick off The Australian Ballet's 60th anniversary season: it had to be Swan Lake. The classic work has been a signature ballet for the company since its first performance on November 2, 1962.
