Losing it BIG-TIME

All around me, people are vanishing. I don't mean they're disappearing off the face of the earth. But they're getting skinnier and skinnier – mere shadows of their former selves.

A couple of them have had bariatric surgery. On talkback, some people say it's the “easy” way out to lose weight. That those who have the surgery are cheating.

Personally, I don’t see anything easy about your stomach being cut and sewn into the size of a walnut. It’s a major operation and the surgeon only does part of the work. The rest has to be undertaken by the individual, and generally involves a complete change of lifestyle and mindset. They have to put up with all sorts of unpleasant side effects while they get used to the foods they can and can’t tolerate in their new tummy.
