If you're going to be 'kidnapped' like David was, make sure it's in Jorhat!

One of the great joys of my job is that not only do I never know where I'm going to next, but nor do I know who I'll meet when I get there.

The destinations are sometimes so strange that it feels they've been decided by a blindfolded person throwing a dart at a world map.

Perhaps the most interesting place I have ever visited is Jorhat in India, where I was “kidnapped” by a delightful local businessman.

Jorhat, in the Assam region, is India's tea capital. For much of the late 20th century, it was a no-go zone for foreigners because of local ethnic disputes and its sensitive location bordering China, Bhutan, Bangladesh and Burma.
