REDUCE Your Biological Age!
My Weekly|September 26, 2023
Never mind how many birthdays you've had, it's your biological age that counts. Here's how to stay younger for longer...

REDUCE Your Biological Age!

Bolster Your Defences

"Day-to-day living inevitably leads to free radicals (unstable atoms that can damage cells, causing illness and ageing) which can be produced either in the body through natural biological processes or be introduced by external sources, such as tobacco smoke or radiation," says Stefanie Daniels, holistic health coach and founder of Life Begins at Menopause.

"Whilst the body can cope with some free radicals, excessive amounts lead to oxidative stress. That's where nature's medicine can lend a hand through protective antioxidants in fruit and vegetables, particularly berries, oranges, kiwis, bell peppers, carrots, spinach and kale. So include plenty of fruit and veg in your diet every day."

Turn The Tap To Cold

Cold showers stimulate the immune system, say researchers, who found that those who take them regularly have fewer days off work sick.

"The biological response (hormesis) to cold water triggers anti-ageing reactions in our cells," explains Stefanie.

"Some studies also suggest that it can increase metabolism, reduce inflammation and improve sleep quality." Finish your usual shower by switching to the coldest setting for a minute or two. It might be painful, but the benefits will go a long way!

...And Embrace The Heat
