When medication didn't heal the tingling and burning in her feet, Dana DuPont, 51, discovered the feel-great remedy that restored her health

"My pain is finally gone!"

One evening, after a long day at work, Dana DuPont could barely stand up to cook dinner. Her feet were throbbing and her hands ached, all from the neuropathy—nerve pain caused by chemotherapy due to breast cancer.

“Exhausted and in pain, I wondered how I could keep going,” Dana recalls. “Doctors had prescribed medications that didn't seem to work and brought unpleasant side effects. But that night in my kitchen marked a turning point. I knew something had to change.

Barely getting by

“When I returned to my job as a medical assistant, being on my feet all day was excruciating. My job was stressful, and I needed to find a way to manage my stress and get some exercise. The thought of going to the gym to force myself to do something unenjoyable was not going to work. I had tried dance classes at the gym, but seeing myself as a 50-year-old woman trying to keep up with the 20-somethings doing the latest hip-hop moves made me laugh. I vowed to embrace and celebrate my age instead and decided to explore more partner dancing.

“Then I accepted an invitation to go country two-stepping at a live show. Initially, I was worried I wouldn't be able to last a whole song, let alone a whole evening. I just decided to tune out the pain and take many breaks. But at the same time, I noticed that I seemed to forget about the pain because I was having so much fun. Concentrating on being led by a partner and learning new moves was a welcome distraction.
