While chatting with Shirley, we came across her magnificent temperament and what a beautiful girl she is not only inside but on the outside. Be it tremendously strenuous sets, or her bonding interval with her cats, Shirley is a soul who always has a smile on her face and radiates positive vibes. Whilst chatting with her, we also found out the profound meaning of family and how they can support you and be there for you in every footstep of your life. She believes the phrase ‘hard work is the key to success' and is never disappointed even after facing a downhill.
Q. When did you realise that you wanted to become a singer?
Ans. I had always wanted to be an actor. Me becoming a singer just happened. I have grown to love music and so does my parents. No one in my family belongs to this industry and they’re not even aware about a lot of basic information related to this industry. But the fact that they were all such strong and avid music lovers, and so my entire childhood I have grown up listening to music even in New Zealand. Bollywood songs specially and that kinda just struck me and one day I just randomly recorded myself signing the song ‘Tum hi ho’ and after uploading it, I didn’t expect that it would reach out to so many people. I guess that’s when it kinda clicked that maybe I should give this a go and this is my calling. And I am so glad that I went with it. It gave me such great opportunities like coming to India and to be able to live here and work here which turned to be very very overwhelming and an amazing experience.
