Google has begun rolling out its “Help Me Edit” feature on Google Photos for iOS, extending one of its core generative AI tools to Apple devices.

GOOGLE PHOTOS FOR IOS ADDS “HELP ME EDIT” AI FEATURE FOR NATURAL LANGUAGE PHOTO ADJUSTMENTS

The update allows iPhone users to describe edits in plain language—such as removing background objects, adjusting lighting, or refining color balance—and have the app perform those changes automatically.

The feature, already available on Android since midyear, relies on Google's Gemini AI models to interpret user instructions and apply corresponding visual adjustments. It introduces a conversational interface to a process that previously required manual sliders or third-party editing software, giving users more flexible control without altering the app's existing workflow.

Once installed, the latest version of Google Photos adds a text-prompt field labeled “Describe what you want to change.”Requests are processed using on-device resources for simple edits and Google's cloud servers for more complex transformations. The system generates a preview before committing edits, and users can refine or undo results at any step.
