Resident Evil 4

Can the remade Resi live up to an original that didn't just subvert its survival horror roots, but laid the foundations for all over-the-shoulder third-person action games that followed?

Resi 4 is an all-time classic, with creative variety and pacing that puts most modern blockbusters to shame. It still holds up brilliantly... but given Capcom ported it to every conceivable platform, we've had no trouble revisiting it over the years. So did it really need a remake?

Visually, we're all for it. This is the best-looking Resident Evil remake yet, and even more so because of how meaty the campaign is next to RE2 and RE3's more constrained settings. There's also a stronger 'survival horror' vibe here - not only in the visual tone, but also with new puzzle-solving elements that go beyond just glorified key-collecting.
