Bloody well bright

Philips' latest OLED comes with Ambilight tech, meaty B&W sound... and claims of supreme luminosity. But is it a gleamer or a dreamer?

Aside from one tiny logo, there's little to suggest the 550LED907 is a Philips TV. But we also see the name 'Bowers & Wilkins' - and no other brand has an audio partner of such impeccable cred. The panel is one of LG's new 'Royal' types, which promises to address OLED's one real issue: lack of brightness.

I The audio isn't quite 'blow your socks off good but it's impressive enough to mean a soundbar isn't remotely necessary. Expect deep and well-controlled bass, clearly projected dialogue and enough bite at the top end to give action movies full, explosive expression.
