Motorola Edge 60 Pro

A well-rounded Android phone that offers (almost) all the trappings of a flagship at a much cheaper price

The Motorola Edge 60 Pro is the company's most expensive non-folding smartphone, but that price includes 512GB of storage. Compared to the 512GB Google Pixel 9 Pro (see issue 362, p58) or Samsung Galaxy S25 (see issue 367, p72) it's a bargain: those cost £919 and £959.
It comes in an exciting trio of Pantone-designed hues: I tried Dazzling Blue, but there's a greenish-khaki Shadow option or the vibrant Sparkling Grape. On the back is a raised camera bump, but as this doesn't stick too far out you can lie the handset flat on a surface without undue wobbling. The rear is textured, too, making it feel more premium than your average Android phone.
The Motorola Edge 60 Pro's other premium feature is a display that curves around onto the sides of the phone. While curved edges are divisive, the glass makes the phone very comfortable to hold, and the 186g weight is reasonably light. IP69 certification provides assurance against dust ingress and high-pressure beams of water, while the MIL-STD-810H accreditation means it should also withstand shocks, extreme temperatures, high altitude and strong vibrations.

There's a potentially fun and funky new WiFi protocol coming soon for your mobile devices. Called WiFi Aware, it's a similar idea to the existing WiFi Direct protocol - but while that technology has been largely ignored, this one has me genuinely excited.
