A classy laptop that lives up to its Slim moniker, and it should be fast enough to meet most people’s needs

PRICE Estimated price, £1,000 (£1,200 inc VAT) from lenovo.com/gb

Some laptops are called slim when they have no right to such a claim, but the Yoga Slim 7i Carbon is aptly named. Although it's official 14.8mm thickness is a tad misleading – it measures 14.8mm at the front, rising to 17.6mm at the rear – the first thing that strikes you is how compact it is. That extends to the depth and width, too, and it’s no surprise that such a tiny thing weighs less than 1kg.

It lends itself perfectly to life on the move, with a carbon fibre lid and magnesium-aluminum base that strike a fine balance between weight and strength. As with most Lenovo laptops, it’s passed the MIL-STD-810H military tests, but (as I never tire of saying) it would be good to see a longer warranty than one year.

Despite the Yoga in its name, this isn’t a two-in-one design that folds round; Lenovo has edged away from this form factor. The lid will fold round 180°, but that’s it for flexibility. You do benefit from a touchscreen, at least, with an effective anti-glare coating to deal with overhead lights. This isn’t the world’s greatest panel, but it covers 96% of the sRGB gamut with excellent colour accuracy (0.45 average Delta E, maximum of 1.11).
