Not the fastest, but a great chassis design and capable performance for every content creation workload

The design of Lenovo's ThinkStation P8 is inspired by Aston Martin cars
When we've reviewed Lenovo workstations in the past we've always been impressed by the design. This “Aston Martin-inspired” ThinkStation P8 Tower is no exception. What is exceptional is how well Lenovo has matched up the specifications to the brief we provided for this group test - previous systems have been more off-the-shelf - with this P8 sitting close to our £11,000 exc VAT ceiling.
Our sample system does suffer from having the now previous-generation AMD Ryzen Threadripper Pro 7975WX CPU rather than the just-released 9975WX, but we're sure the latter will be made available once validated on this platform as BIOS compatibility should be all that is required. The 7975WX is a 32-core (64-thread) CPU with a 4GHz base clock and 5.3GHz boost frequency.
This is no different to the non-Pro version, but it offers more PCIe 5.0 lanes and an eight-channel memory controller, which will benefit performance in some areas. To take advantage of this, Lenovo supplied the P8 with a massive 512GB of 4,800MHz ECC DDR5 memory. This came as eight 64GB DIMMs taking up all the slots, but will you ever need more?
