Basic collaboration features, but this affordable cloud file-sharing service will appeal to small businesses

SMBs are spoilt for choice with cloud file-sharing and collaboration products, but smaller organisations with modest requirements may find the sheer range of features on offer overwhelming. For those that want simple file sharing and short contracts there’s HiDrive from web-hosting giant Ionos.

HiDrive is available in four plans, with the entry-level Basic option costing £1.50 per month and providing 100GB of cloud storage with an option to cancel at any time. We wanted to look at the top-of-the-range Pro plan but came across a catch for existing Ionos users.

We use Ionos to host websites and provide email services, and our account includes the Team HiDrive service for one user. We considered upgrading this service but were disappointed to be offered only minimum one-year contracts for all four plans and no discounts. We overcame this by adding a new HiDrive package to our account and were able to purchase the Pro plan with a rolling one-month contract.
