AT&C losses have reduced from 22.62 percent in 2014 to 15 percent in 2025.

India has witnessed a remarkable transformation in its power sector over the last decade, significantly improving electricity accessibility, transmission capacity, and energy efficiency. Union Minister Shri Manohar Lal recently highlighted these advancements in a press conference, emphasising the government's commitment to ensuring uninterrupted electricity supply, increasing non-fossil energy capacity, and reducing power losses.
One of the most notable achievements in the power sector has been the significant increase in electricity availability across rural and urban areas. In 2014, rural regions had an average electricity supply of 12.5 hours per day. By 2025, this has surged to 22.6 hours, while urban areas now enjoy an average supply of 23.4 hours daily. This improvement is largely attributed to government initiatives such as the Deen Dayal Upadhyay Gram Jyoti Yojana (DDUGJY), PM Sahaj Bijli Har Ghar Yojana (SAUBHAGYA), and the Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan for Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTG). These programmes have played a crucial role in enhancing electricity accessibility in remote and underserved regions.
