The Adani Group has announced a landmark investment of USD 100 billion to develop green-energy-powered, Already data centre infrastructure by 2035, positioning India at the forefront of the global artificial intelligence revolution.
Described as one of the world’s largest integrated energy-compute commitments, the investment is expected to catalyse an additional USD 150 billion across manufacturing, advanced electrical systems, sovereign cloud platforms and related industries. Collectively, this could create a USD 250 billion Al infrastructure ecosystem in India over the next decade.
The initiative will focus on establishing hyperscale, renewable-energy-powered data centres, forming the backbone of a sovereign energy and compute platform. The roadmap expands on AdaniConneX’s existing 2 GW national data centre footprint, with plans to scale capacity to 5 GW over time.
Through its joint venture AdaniConneX, the Group aims to create high-density compute infrastructure tailored to support Al startups, research institutions and deep-tech innovation.
The project also integrates renewable energy generation with grid resilience and hyperscale Al computing, ensuring sustainable and reliable infrastructure for India’s rapidly growing digital economy.
The vision is anchored in strategic collaborations with global technology leaders, including Google and Microsoft, as well as expanded engagement with Flipkart to develop high-performance Al data centre facilities.
A gigawatt-scale Al data centre campus is planned in Visakhapatnam, alongside additional campuses in Noida. Microsoft-backed facilities are expected to span Hyderabad and Pune, with discussions ongoing with other global players for further expansion across India.
He further said that the company is building on its foundation in data centres and green energy to expand into a comprehensive five-layer Al stack focused on technological sovereignty.
