A SIXTY metre sprint by Hull’s Adam Brankley in the final minute was finished by fellow bac rower Felix Crapper as Yorkshire completed a 10 try rout over Somerset.
Sheffield winger Chris Hooper scored a hat-trick in a stand-out performance as last year’s losing Twickenham finalists set out their stall to go one better this season.
Yorkshire head coach Lee Denham said: "I'm delighted, it’s a great start to the campaign. We started well, we were strong in the scrummage, our back-line was penetrative, we really did look like a good side. It’s a great feeling to win my first game in charge. I couldn’t sleep last night and I’ve been nervous all day. We had eight county debuts and it’s a great memory for them.
