NEWBY IGNITES A VASE DREAM

PROUD Kris Newby says his Romford side can't help but dream of another epic FA Vase run on the road to Wembley - albeit with a brand new squad!
Boro lifted the famous trophy under the arch back in May after a 3-0 win over Essex Senior League rivals Great Wakering Rovers.
But they have seen a huge change in personnel since manager Dan then with Spinks leaving the club to join another rival side in Saffron Walden Town, taking many of his Vase-winning squad with him.
However, one who did stay was captain Kris Newby, who subsequently took over the manager's hotseat and will now lead the holders out for the first defence of their title at Takeley on Saturday.
As it stands, a Wembley repeat is a long way off but Newby is very much motivated by last season's Vase journey and is looking forward to the challenge of emulating that success.
"I'm definitely looking forward to starting our defence," Newby told The NLP.
