There are four sides tied on 52 points at the top with Maidstone United in fifth on 51. Worthing are right in the thick of it too after edging past the Stones and extending their unbeaten run to nine matches. For the Stones, this was only their second league defeat in 21 games.

Maidstone boss George Eloko-bi was philosophical, saying: "We have to take the positives as a management team.

"We needed to be more compact and control territories in the first half but in the second half we were superb in terms of doing that and also in showing composure. All that was lacking was a clinicality in front of goal."
