Bower buoyed by striker's return
GUISELEY boss Mark Bower is backing striker Jordan Thewlis to make up for lost time after last season’s injury nightmare.
The 32-year-old returned to Nethermoor last summer in the best form of his career after netting 25 goals across all competitions for Alfreton in the 2023-24 campaign.
But a niggling groin problem that eventually required surgery restricted the former Scunthorpe and Boston forward to just ten starts.
Now Thewlis is back in business, Bower believes last year’s beaten NPL Premier play-off finalists will be far more potent.
"We had the second best defensive record in the league after Macclesfield last year, but we weren't even close in terms of scoring goals," says the former Bradford City defender, who rejoined the Lions in April last year after seven years at Bradford Park Avenue.
