JAKE TABOR says he thought his shot at professional football had gone before being handed his big chance at Swindon Town.
The 22-year-old hotshot completed a leap of five divisions into League Two with the Robins last Saturday, after scoring 127 goals in 91 matches for Combined Counties League side Amersham Town.
Top talent Tabor had caught the eye of a number of EFL clubs such as Wycombe Wanderers, where he underwent a trial, Crawley, Fleetwood and Stevenage.
But it was former Premier League boss Ian Holloway at Swindon who won the race for the player being hailed as “the new Jamie Vardy” whose rapid rise took him from Stocksbridge Park Steels to Premier League winner with Leicester City.
Tabor wasn’t short of offers but told The NLP he had remained at Spratleys Meadow for as long as he did out of loyalty to the manager who signed him, Stuart Atkins.
