What's the club called? Northern Colorado Flamingos Rugby Club. Ironically, flamingos are not wild in Colorado.
As in Colorado in the United States? Oh yes, Fort Collins, Colorado, US of A! An old town 60 miles north of Denver. Colorado's fourth-biggest city and at the foot of the Rocky Mountains.
So how did rugby reach them? The club was formed by Colorado State University rugby alumni in 1975 and originally called the Celtics. After brief stints as the Celtics and Killians, the Flamingos officially formed in 1985 following a victory at the CowPie Classic tournament at Steamboat Springs. A vibrant name for a vibrant rugby club...
