Church Stretton
Golf Monthly
|September 2025
Dating back to 1898, Church Stretton is blessed with a stunning and remote location that is both its blessing and its curse. With regard to the former, it is entirely natural and unspoilt, with wonderful panoramic views over the Long Mynd, 20 square miles of very beautiful rolling heathland and moorland in the Shropshire hills.
As for the latter, its very isolation results in less footfall, and hence not so much to invest in the bells and whistles that many golfers have come to expect at our leading courses. Happily, this does not detract in any way from the experience, as the whole atmosphere, ethos and feel of the place is totally aligned to nature and unfussiness.

PACKAGE SETS
Why would you buy a package set as opposed to selecting different irons, woods, wedges and a putter? Primarily, convenience - it can save you hunting around and doing lots of research for all the clubs you need. For a lot of golfers, especially those who don't play very often, it's a more appealing option. Although we always recommend going down the custom-fitting route, the fact is, this isn't for everyone.

It is now situated on a gently undulating and perhaps surprisingly peaceful parcel of downland just south of the M3 in Hampshire. And while the club's new course is just a well-struck drive from its previous 15th green, in
