The new Mercedes-AMG G 63 Grand Edition” and IWC Schaffhausen Big Pilot’s Watch AMG G 63 reflects the epitome in luxury co-branding.

It’s not very often that an automobile launches in tandem with its very own luxury watch counterpart. But then again, the Mercedes-AMG G 63 “Grand Edition” is not any automobile. As Mercedes-Benz Singapore unveils the latest version of the high-end off-road machine, the IWC Schaffhausen Big Pilot’s Watch AMG G 63 was also introduced.

The Mercedes-AMG G 63 “Grand Edition” is limited to just 1,000 units globally, accentuated by a special paint mode of MANUFAKTUR night black mango with gold details. Looks are just one side of the new car’s allure. The 4.0-litre M 177 V8 biturbo engine is capable of churning out 585hp of power at 6,000rpm, helping the car accelerate to 100km/h in just 4.5 seconds. Other highlights include an AMG SPEEDSHIFT TCT 9G automatic transmission with manual mode, and AMG Performance 4MATIC all-wheel drive. To highlight the car’s versatility, the Mercedes-AMG G 63 “Grand Edition” comes with five on-road and three off-road drive programmes.

The Mercedes-Benz G Class and the Big Pilot’s Watch from IWC Schaffhausen share a similar story in that they were both developed to meet functional requirements but have evolved into modern icons from their utilitarian origins. After 20 years of partnership, the two brands celebrate these icons with the two special editions.
