On 14 June, Euro 2024, the men’s European Football Championship, kicks off in Germany. Many eyes will be on the strikers who score the goals, like England’s Harry Kane or France’s Kylian Mbappé. However, equally important are the goalkeepers who will be trying to stop them. Goalkeepers are already unique in football, being the only players who are allowed to pick up the ball with their hands, but the differences don’t end there. New research has found that goalies actually see the world differently to everyone else.
