I've always enjoyed the Silent Hill series, particularly the Team Silent games. Those early titles offer a mix of grotesque imagery, well-written characters and complex puzzles that often help them stand apart from similar games in the genre and I never tire of playing them.

Silent Hill 4: The Room is generally regarded as the worst of the Team Silent games and while I can see that reasoning, I still think that there's plenty about it that's worth investigating.
