Marking a return to The Photographers' Gallery after more than 40 years, the work of the visual storyteller Peter Mitchell is often regarded as some of the UK's most important early colour work.

First photographing in the 1970s and 1980s, Mitchell's observations of social history in Leeds show off his longstanding, warm and poetic connection with the city.
