For the past three decades, SM Prime Holdings Inc., through SM Supermalls, has steadily strengthened its commitment to responsible water stewardship, advancing long-term solutions that support environmental protection, operational efficiency, and community resilience.

SM Supermalls deepens water stewardship drive, builds a more resilient ruture

The journey began in the late 1990s with the installation of SM's first Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) at SM Southmall. Recognizing the vital role of wastewater treatment in protecting public health, preserving ecosystems, and supporting sustainable urban development, SM went on to make STPs a standard feature across all 89 of its malls nationwide. This has enabled the company to significantly reduce water waste and pollution while helping safeguard vital water resources.

Today, water conservation is deeply integrated into SM Supermalls' daily operations. Recycled water is used for flushing water closets, cleaning facilities, and irrigating landscaped areas, while low-flow fixtures and other water-efficient technologies help curb excessive consumption across its expansive mall network.
